Monasterio San Prudencio
A short side-trip and hike brought us to a ninth-century monastery. It
was occupied for nearly a thousand years, being abandoned in 1835 when
Spain purged many religious establishments.
Field trips are a critical and integral component of geoscience education. They provide students with unequaled opportunities for exploring and understanding geological principles first-hand, outside of the classroom, at real-world scales.
Such trips, however, are expensive endeavors. While students themselves bare a portion of the costs, we rely on grants and donations to cover the majority of the trip's costs. This helps to ensure an affordable experience open all students.
This year's field trip is supported by generous contributions from:

- Department of Earth and Environmental Science Field Trip Excursion Fund (initially funded by an anonymous donation)
